Wubuntu – Bridging Windows and Ubuntu

  • by

Wubuntu, short for Windows Ubuntu, is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu that closely mimics the appearance and functionality of Windows 11. It is an ideal choice for those transitioning to Linux but still yearning for the familiarity of Windows.

Wubuntu, also known as “Windows Ubuntu,” is a Linux operating system designed to emulate the look and feel of Microsoft Windows, including the new Copilot assistant. What sets it apart is that it doesn’t require TPM, secure boot, or any other hardware prerequisites to operate. Built on the foundation of the Ubuntu operating system, Wubuntu delivers a fast, secure, and highly efficient system. Moreover, Wubuntu allows you to run Windows and Android applications seamlessly.

The latest LTS version of Wubuntu is well-suited for desktop computers and laptops. LTS, or Long Term Support, ensures five years of free security and maintenance updates, extending support until April 2027.

Recommended System Requirements:

  • 2 GHz dual-core processor or better
  • 2 GB system memory (4 GB strongly recommended)
  • 25 GB free hard drive space (SSD strongly recommended)
  • Internet access is beneficial
  • DVD drive or USB port for installation media
  • Compatibility with Windows applications
  • Run your favorite .exe and .msi applications with the new Wine compatibility layer.

Key Features:

  • Compatibility with Windows applications, allowing the execution of .exe and .msi files using the new Wine compatibility layer.
  • Pre-installed applications such as Microsoft Edge, Teams, Skype, PowerShell, Code, and more.
  • Security and speed: Wubuntu is fast, secure, and highly stable, relieving users from concerns about viruses and crashes.

Wubuntu leverages KDE Plasma technology, employing the KDE window manager to create a modern, highly customizable desktop environment filled with features. Notably, it doesn’t require a powerful computer; devices with a dual-core processor and 2 GB RAM are capable of running Wubuntu smoothly.
